This Friday 18th April, La Movida Ibiza celebrates its 20th anniversary with a special party at the Hard Rock Hotel in Platja d’en Bossa. This event will bring together local and national artists.
The party, which began in 2005 in the bars Casa Nova and Tropicana in Sant Antoni, has travelled over the years to many places on the island and has even performed on the mainland and in Morocco. In its first editions, DJ Vázquez and DJ Petit, the creators of La Movida, never imagined that they would celebrate two decades of success. ‘We never imagined we’d get this far, we started in small bars and now, looking back, we’ve played in venues all over the island and beyond, on the mainland and even in Morocco,’ explains DJ Vázquez.
This anniversary will feature artists such as OBK, Javier Ojeda and Verónica Romero. Also joining the line-up will be Lugotti, the Madrid DJ Óscar de Pablo, the Passion Dancers, the group Acrobatik and Miquel Marí, from Morning Drivers.
La Movida has managed to adapt to the new times. Vázquez points out that, although at the beginning the party was focused on the hits of the 80s and 90s, in recent years it has incorporated music from the 2000s, to attract a younger audience. ‘There are more and more young people at our parties,’ says DJ Vázquez.
In addition to the music, the 20th anniversary of La Movida also has a solidarity component. Part of the proceeds from the tickets, which are priced at 20 euros and include a drink and some charity items, will be donated to the Pitiusa Mental Health Association. As usual at his parties, DJ Vázquez explains that they have always tried to collaborate with social causes, and this time will be no exception. ‘In all our big parties we have tried to do something to benefit a cause, and in this case we are very happy to be able to support this association,’ he says.
The party will start at 18.00 with Óscar de Pablo, who will kick off the night with his session. From then on, the artists and live performances will continue until midnight. Tickets can be purchased through La Movida Ibiza’s official website, www.lamovidaibiza.com, or on their Instagram @lamovidaibiza.
